The meeting to explain the calls for entry in Mashhad International Urban Arts Festival was held in the presence of a group of Mashhad artists at the conference hall of the “Cultural Center for Children and the Future”.
The secretary of the Mashhad International Urban Arts Festival said: “In the main part of the competition, which is going to be an ” International competition “, we want to create the “storytelling pavilions”. A pavilion can be a narrator of a story in different forms and in fact, this storytelling can tell in various tools such as audio-visual facilities, new technologies, works of art, handicrafts, etc. By creating these new and valuable events, the conditions for people to hear, see and read stories can go to the next level.”
Mehdi Yekpesar added: This year, the festival will be held in two parts, Nowruz and the International section. Nowruz event will be held by combining the routine programs of previous years with a few changes in the model and performance method, and in the international section, which is the main part of the festival, all artists from Iran and around the world can participate.”
He added: “in the urban decoration section, which is in the public section of this festival, our view is that creativity to change the face of the city should be done rather by artists.”
Yekpesar added: “We are trying to use all urban elements such as facade capacity, urban furniture, and identity potentials in the form of creative and guerrilla marketing that is used all over the world.”
The secretary of the Mashhad International Festival of Urban Arts said: “Another approach is to turn the ugliness of the city into beauty and turn the artist’s knowledge of the city into an opportunity to prepare and produce ideas and art. This year, we are looking for a value-creating change.”.
He pointed out: “For this year’s festival, we expect artists to produce ideas and works of art by finding examples in the city.”
Yekpesar stated: “Nowruz 1401 is the beginning of an Iranian new century and has coincided with the Eid al-Fitr, and part of the works of this festival will be dedicated to these two topics.
He said: “In the mural section, we will select a number of artists based on their resumes, and in the public section, we will judge the received works. In the performing arts and Nowruz memorials section, we have defined a new activity in 15 places across the city called “place of event”.
In the end, the secretary of Mashhad International Festival of Urban Arts said: “In the “place of event “, we select parts of the city and artists must present their designs and works based on the landscape, dimensions, and characteristics of the place, or in a better word, these pavilion will be made based on a story, and the artist will make the pavilion interactive and dynamic based on the story. Also, in the outdoor space of that pavilion, a street performance with the theme of the story will be performed and in some of them, we will have related hymns.”
