Mashhad International Urban Arts Festival calls for entries

The “Mashhad Urban Art Festival” series, from the first day of spring in 2008 till now, has turned the city into a large exhibition of works by Iranian and international artists such as sculptors, architects, environmental graphic designers, painters, etc., and has formed part of the contemporary memories of Mashhad. In the fourteenth edition of the festival, the hosting of works of art at the international level added to the past experiences, and a new chapter of urban art manifestations will begin in “blessing and dignity cosmopolis”.
Mashhad International Festival of Urban Arts, host of works from the concepts of “blessing” and “dignity” in the form of a conceptual space (pavilion) to be located in the public arias of the city and narrates examples of the main topics and confront the audience with a “story” of a specific “subject”.
Paying attention to the symbols, elements, and signs of Islamic and Iranian arts, the appropriate effect among the visual disturbances of the city, and the existence of a suitable design for night lightings are among the appearance features attached in the call.
In this year’s event, the process of constructing the winner’s works will be based on the analysis of materials and construction announced in the competition documents and expert evaluation at the time of beginning the process, with Iranian price rates. also, a contract will be signed between the organizer and the owner of the artwork or the performer introduced by him.
All of the executive expenses, including the purchase of materials, construction and execution wages, production of artistic or theatrical content works, provision of workshop space, transportation, reception and accommodation of agents, insurance, and other executive affairs of winning artworks, will be sponsored in the region of 15 (fifteen) thousand USD. In addition to the cost of construction and execution, there will be payments of two thousand USD, one thousand and five hundred USD, and one thousand USD will pay as intellectual property rights of the winning works.

AWARDS
The awards for the first to third winners will be 10 thousand USD, 6 thousand USD, and 4 thousand USD, and the people’s choice award will be 5 thousand USD, respectively, along with the statue of the festival and the plaque of appreciation of the mayor of Mashhad.
Artists can submit their works from November 27, 2021, until the end of December 24, 2021, on the festival’s official website at www.artmashhadevent.ir.
The winners will announce on January 1st, and the works will unveil on March 18, 2014.

The Nowruz event
Another section for this year’s International Festival of Urban Arts is called Nowruz (Iranian New Year). In this event, the festival will host the works of artists in four parts:

Nowruz memorials: in which 14 temporary interactive memorials will display in 14 important urban points. For the design and construction of these memorials, there will be limited competition among the accepted works beyond the original acceptance capacity. Artists must submit their professional resumes until the deadline of November 29, 2021, on the festival’s official website.

Decoration section: publishing artists’ decorative works will always change the mood of the city on Iranian New year, with the theme of the intersection of spring, nature, and the holy month of Ramadan. Artists must submit their works until December 11, 2021, on the festival’s official website.

Works of the mural: with a new and creative look and using different tools and materials, these works will display in two parts on the city walls. It will be limited competition between up to 30 accepted artists. These artists must register on the festival’s official website until November 29, 2021. Design and execute murals and reliefs must be inspired by original decorative elements and taken from the shrine of Imam Reza (AS) to beautify small walls. Participants must submit their works in this section until December 26, 2021, on the festival’s official website.

Performing arts: In this section, 14 plays will select with an emphasis on special creations and conceptual performances as a complement to Nowruz memorials in 14 selected urban locations. In this section, there will be limited competition between applicants over the original capacity. Interested groups must submit their initial performance design based on a subject related to the concepts of “blessing” or “dignity” along with their resumes to the festival secretariat by December 11, 2021.
